Sarah’s favorite books »

Nagasaki: Life After Nuclear War, by Susan Southard

A deeply engrossing, well-researched account of the aftermath the nuclear bomb that the U.S. dropped on Nagasaki at the end of WWII. Most of the information in this book was completely new to me. It was difficult to read at times due to the extreme suffering described, but I think it’s a topic that should be more thoroughly covered in American schools.

Wizard’s First Rule (Sword of Truth, #1), by Terry Goodkind

This is the start to my favorite book series of all time. I consider it to be a case of Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones. It’s nearly a thousand pages and will last you through whatever travel scenario you need it to, so maybe consider the ebook version to save packing space.

The Power, by Naomi Alderman

This book left me shook. That’s pretty much all I’ve got to say on the matter. That, and you should read it and be shook too.
